Gowanda Recreation Soccer Program
Mark Benton, Gowanda Recreation Director, has asked me to pass alng the following information:
Gowanda Recreation will be hosting a co-ed soccer program once again this spring at Gateway Park on Palmer Street. All students in grades 1 through 8 from Gowanda and the surrounding areas are free to attend at no cost. Previous soccer experience is not necessary to participate in this program. Each child should wear spikes or sneakers and bring water. Any questions can be directed to Mark Benton at 716-770-8809.

Gowanda Recreation Learn to Ski registration is set for Monday October 28.
The Village of Gowanda will hold their Learn to Ski registration on Monday, October 28 from 6 to 7:30 pm in the Village board room located at 27 East Main Street. The program will be held every Sunday afternoon once the ski season begins from 2:30 to 10 pm at Holiday Valley in Ellicottville. All students in grades 3 through 12 plus any adults residing in the Gowanda Central School District are welcome to join the club. The first 25 registered skiers/snowboarders will receive a $50 discount off of their Sunday night season lift ticket. BOCES Awards Ceremony
The LoGuidice Educational Center recently held its 2024 Senior Recognition Ceremony. SUNY Fredonia played host to the event at their King Concert Hall. Numerous awards were presented during the ceremony wit three Gowanda-area residents included in the honorees.
Christian Merrill recieved a Unified Support Association Awards. Bailey Suraf took home the Harvey Napolean Cuthbert Scholarship and Gowanda’s Nikolas Ondus shared the Presidents Award of Excellence with Cora Bearce.

The 5th Annual Old timers softball game took place at Gateway Park on Friday, July 26, 2024. Nineteen players participated in the exhibition game that was played in front of an appreciative crowd. Besides the locals, players traveled in from Lakeland, Florida, Allegany, Little Valley, Springville, Amherst, Hamburg and Fredonia to participate in the game. The game was sponsored by the Gowanda Recreation Department.

Gowanda Lottery Winner
The New York State Lottery has announced that one of two First Prize tickets for the July 25 evening Take 5 drawing was sold at Gowanda Shop’N Save. The First Place prize totals $16,759.00. The other First Prize ticket was sold at a Farook Ahmed location on 8th Avenue in New York City.
There were 103 Second Prize ($488.00) and 4,051 Third Prize (20.50) winners. Another 41,840 players won a Free Play.
